I loved that edit that you were open to and made Chris Tomlin!! saying the cross saved us can get into a theological pickle that would do the song disservice; even though in truth song and lyric is poetry and one doesn't have to spoon feed the hearer… but as you said, if there's a possibility that it could be a stumbling block then removing it altogether is wise. speaks volumes about your heart and the humility therein!
