Two hundred years ago people were writing songs about God and only referring to themselves in order to communicate the purity of God's character by comparison with their own. These days songs are written with the exact opposite focus – we only mention God to the extent to which he is relevant to our needs.This song over and over again says "I need your love". But who cares whether the writer does? Whether the writers need God's love doesn't change the fact that God is love. Even if every single person on the planet refuses to worship a holy, just and merciful God (as it seems a good portion of the songwriters on this channel do) God is still worthy of praise.
